Console Catch-Up - January 2025 Monthly Recap

Yeah... Sorry to disappoint, but there are no completed console games this month either.

Since November things have been chaotic. Straight after the New Year, I celebrated my 40th birthday. We didn't do anything grand on the day - but had a lovely dinner with friends and family. Then we flew to France for a week, where we spent a couple of days in Disneyland for the little one, and then the rest of the holiday in Paris.

Upon returning, there was no easing into our routine. Everything was waiting for us at our doorstep. Several nights were spent helping our daughter catch up on missed homework and the days were spent catching up on our work. Then it was my daughter's birthday, and while we did celebrate it in France, we did organize a small gathering with her closest friends for her.

I didn't even have time to join my brothers online for our weekly gaming session of Remnant 2. By the time I managed to squeeze in some time on the console, more than half of January was already gone.

I'm still working my way through Shadows of the Tomb Raider. I haven't delayed playing it because I am getting bored of it. Far from it. It's really been demotivation from other factors in my life. I have at least progressed further in the game where I have encountered the guardians. They still don't compare with the ones from the first game. They don't feel intimidating or grandiose.

I did however manage to squeeze in some time to complete Kao the Kangaroo and Legend of Grimrock as part of my A to Z challenge, so at least that was something. I'm quite pleased that my commitment to this challenge is still going strong, and I am eager to reach the end of this run simply to start it up again with a fresh batch of games.

Well, I won't bore you for long. Here's hoping next month I will actually have something to show as a completed console title. I mean, if I want to finally get around to playing God of War I need to knuckle down and complete Shadows of the Tomb Raider first.
