Here we are at the beginning of April. It's been a busy month. Thankfully, I can say from work rather than from job hunting (still not recovered from that dark time). I can hardly believe it's been four months now. Feels like I've been with the company for a year already - and that's a good thing. Means I am fitting in. And the work is good. Challenging, but really good.
But it also means it leaves me with less time to game. On top of some ongoing issues that have not yet been fully resolved, my motivation has not been all there when it comes to gaming.
It doesn't mean I haven't played anything. In fact, this month I did complete several titles, most of which I had been chipping away at for quite some time. But the majority of them were co-op games that I had been playing with others. Not that I'm complaining
Name: Project ReMind (Playtest)
Status: Demo Completed
Date Completed: 01/03/2026

The first one I want to mention was actually a playtest for an up-and-coming Adventure/Puzzle game. My daughter and I were invited to try it out when we came across the game during Playcon back in 2025.
My daughter and I love these types of games, where we have to look at the details in our surroundings and try to solve the puzzles to progress. We recently beat The Blue Prince, and we are still trying to find a game that meets that same standard.
Now, when it comes to Project ReMind, we only had access to two maps, so I cannot really comment on what the story is about. I know AI sentience is likely involved, but I don't have enough to understand how. But, with regard to the puzzles, from the little we did have access to, I can confidently say it is something that we would very much like to continue when the game comes out. The puzzles weren't too difficult to solve. Most of the time, the solution was nearby, or the goal could easily be identified. And, one thing we noticed, there was no risk of accidentally locking yourself out of progress by accidentally losing an important piece, because the item would respawn if lost.
This is definitely a game we have saved on our wishlist to pick up once it officially comes out.
Name: It Takes A War
Status: Completed
Date Completed: 21/03/2026

This game was gifted to me as a birthday present back in January, but I did not have a chance to play it until now, and only because my brother strongly recommended I play it.
So first of all, it is a short game. I put in a total of 64 minutes, and that's only because I did a second playthrough to get the missing achievements.
The game starts off as an online shooter simulator. You are part of a six-member squad. Four members are friends who game together. You and one other are randos. You are the only one without a mic. It starts off with some simple running and gunning. Find the enemy squad. Wipe 'em (or get wiped). And repeat. But then... things start to change. Subtle at first... and then things get weird.
I don't want to reveal it because it is something that really needs to be experienced. Just be prepared for anything, because there was at least one moment that caught me off guard, and I thought it was a crash.
Name: Viewfinder
Status: Completed
Date Completed: 22/03/2026

So, after my daughter and I finished The Blue Prince, we've been looking for a game that could give us the same satisfaction. My daughter wanted to replay the game, but I couldn't get into it again since I still remembered a lot of the things needed to progress. And, because we had beaten the game, the randomisation of the rooms was now a lot more annoying for me.
We came across Viewfinder as it was a game included in the PSN catalogue. Now, while it cannot be compared to The Blue Prince, the game had some interesting puzzles which required us to really think outside the box at times. The idea was that you would use a photo or picture and place it in the world around you. You could rotate the photo so that ceilings would turn into floors; or copy items; or create bridges, and much, much more. There were a couple of times we were banging our heads against a problem only to discover we were looking at it from the wrong angle - kind of, if you cannot bring the mountain to you, go to the mountain instead, sort of revelation.
Name: Sackboy: A Big Adventure
Status: Completed
Date Completed: 30/03/2026

This was another game that I was playing with my daughter. I wanted to get her comfortable with games set in 3D environments and featuring challenges that require precision. Sackboy was a game that wasn't impossibly hard for her to get into. She did struggle, but she kept trying until we finally concluded the game.
I initially downloaded the game, thinking it was similar to its predecessor, so I was a bit surprised to discover it was more like AstroBot. Still, I enjoyed the platforming, and in all honesty, it had been a long time since I played a platformer that I enjoyed.
We had been playing this for a while because when things did get hard for my daughter, we'd often have to give it a rest for a while until she found the courage again to give it another go. However, now that the game is completed, I don't think I will be replaying the levels to get all the dream orbs. One playthrough was enough.
Name: Yakuza Kiwami (Challenge Title)
Status: Playing
Date Completed: N/A

This is my current challenge game entry.
This month, I have barely invested any time into this game. I have made it to Chapter 5, but have not put any time into it. I ended up spending more time playing with others than really playing anything for myself.
Hopefully, in April, I can put a bit more effort into this. I think one of the main reasons that I am delaying this is that the cutscenes can be long, and I am getting too absorbed in the side content. So when I get a little time for myself, I end up focusing it on something 'shorter'.
That's all for March. Now I do have a bit of potential news. I have been on the fence on whether I should continue the blog or not. The main reason is that I barely play any more games, and I feel it's just disappointing to raise a post at the end of the month. But I am undecided for now. I am going to give it until August, when I need to renew my subscription. By then, I will have made a decision on whether I continue this or not. If I don't, I won't just vanish; I will raise a final post and close things off.
